Online Therapy

I offer HIPAA compliant telehealth - online video therapy!

What is Online therapy?

Online therapy is remote therapy that uses technology to help the therapist and client communicate. Video therapy is similar to traditional therapy. In-person therapy does not require physical contact, so it is possible to replicate most of the therapy experience virtually. Video therapy can, therefore, help with a wide range of conditions and issues, including depression, anxiety, OCD, relationship problems, and chronic stress.

Most research suggests that video therapy can be as effective as in-person therapy. The benefits of seeking research-supported video therapy with a licensed therapist include:

  • Some people are unable to use traditional therapy due to physical disabilities, geographic location, or scheduling issues.
  • People who choose video therapy do not have to sit in busy waiting rooms but can seek treatment in the privacy of their own homes. For some, this alleviates privacy concerns.
  • No transportation time and costs.
  • No need to take time off from work. You can simply schedule your visit during a break, or before or after work
  • Eliminate child or elder care. Online therapy allows you to attend therapy while upholding your family responsibilities.
  • Ability to conduct exposure exercises for OCD and Anxiety Disorders at home.

Some things to consider before starting online therapy:

Do you have a laptop, desktop PC or Mac which is 3 years old or newer?

Older devices may struggle to run the program properly.

Is your space equipped with a modern internet connection that is reliable?

Connecting directly to your router using an Ethernet cable for wired internet is recommended though wireless networks can work fine as well.

Have you downloaded Chrome or Firefox to your computer to use as your internet browser?

Standard browsers such as Internet Explorer, Microsoft Edge or Safari on a Mac may encounter compatibility issues with the video software as those browsers are not as up to date with modern code.

Do you have access to a working webcam?

Most modern laptops have built in webcams which will work great for online therapy! If you have a desktop PC or Mac you may need to purchase and set up an external webcam.

Are you comfortable navigating computer software?

The online portal is easy to navigate and does not require any training to use. However, those who find computers to be confusing or frustrating in general may not be a good fit for online therapy.
You are required to create an account to use this service.

Can I create a private therapy environment at home?

For people who have little privacy at home, finding a private space might be difficult. Some ideas of creating a private space would be:

  • Use a white noise machine or play music in the background
  • Use Headphones
  • Use outdoor space - Take a walk or private space outside
  • Use a large closet, garage, or car
